Vans logo

Describe in detail the image, and why you believe the company selected the brand elements (color, size, layout, character, etc.) that they did. Your analysis should include a brief description of the competitors and how your selected brand logo compares.  In other words, why did they choose the brand elements that they did.

Vans are a popular “skater” brand that produces shoes and clothing. Their logo utilizes a simple text and a vibrant red that contrasts the white and black incorporated in it as well. Their logo stands up against competitors because it is simple and different compared to a competitor such as converse that has a more detailed and less simple logo. Their slogan “off the wall” is also well recognized and automatically associated with their brand.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

Vans target market is younger Millenials and the Gen Z generations. Teenagers all over the world wear vans and they are one of the most popular and well known shoe companies in the world for this generations. We know this is the target market because they are targeting the generations that have an interest in skateboarding and a “skater” type style. They market themselves toward this age group through their advertisements and marketing strategies.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I do believe that Vans logo and marketing strategies do work to target their desired market. Their logo stands out with the vibrant red and slogan but with the simplicity in the letters. Although the “skater” crowd is who they target specifically, teenagers and young adults of all interests wear vans, which goes to show that they are successfully targeting and marketing to a wide range of people.
