Describe in detail how the business implemented the four P’s to add value and/or promote the product or service.
Price: Although the price of this product isn’t the focus of this commercial, through their choice of actor in the ad and location it is clear this is a high quality affordable product.
Product: The product in this commercial is no different than what it was before, however they marketed it as something new through this commercial and promotion.
Place: The location of this commercial was smart because the bathroom and the beach were eye-catching for this commercial.
Promotion: The promotion of this product in this commercial was a very smart marketing tactic. Old Spice realized that they needed to promote the product to the significant others of the men. In using an attractive young man who “smells good” they are getting the female population to do their work for them.
Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)? How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?
The target market of Old Spice was typically known as being a product for older men. However they have tried to shift their target market over to middle aged and younger men. This commercial was a really good way of knowing and showing this new transition. In using a young attractive man addressing the ladies of men, they are showing their new target market. I believe that this was a very smart decision
Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?
I do believe that this marketing campaign was genius and works quite well . In promoting the product to the female population, they are appealing to a whole new range of people and target market. They are allowing the significant others to do their work for them. This campaign could have been the turning point of their company and the key factor in success and future of it.
