Describe in detail how the business implemented the four P’s to add value and/or promote the product or service.

Price: Although the price of this product isn’t the focus of this commercial, through their choice of actor in the ad and location it is clear this is a high quality affordable product.

Product: The product in this commercial is no different than what it was before, however they marketed it as something new through this commercial and promotion.

Place: The location of this commercial was smart because the bathroom and the beach were eye-catching for this commercial.

Promotion: The promotion of this product in this commercial was a very smart marketing tactic. Old Spice realized that they needed to promote the product to the significant others of the men. In using an attractive young man who “smells good” they are getting the female population to do their work for them.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

The target market of Old Spice was typically known as being a product for older men. However they have tried to shift their target market over to middle aged and younger men. This commercial was a really good way of knowing and showing this new transition. In using a young attractive man addressing the ladies of men, they are showing their new target market. I believe that this was a very smart decision

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I do believe that this marketing campaign was genius and works quite well . In promoting the product to the female population, they are appealing to a whole new range of people and target market. They are allowing the significant others to do their work for them. This campaign could have been the turning point of their company and the key factor in success and future of it.

Chipotle Butternut Squash Black Bean Chili - Kristeena Michelle

Describe in detail the image, and why you believe the company selected the brand elements (color, size, layout, character, etc.) that they did. Your analysis should include a brief description of the competitors and how your selected brand logo compares.  In other words, why did they choose the brand elements that they did

I believe that Crayola did a good job in selecting the brand elements that they did in their logo. Being a company who’s target market is a younger audience and needs to catch their attention and parents attention. The multitude of different colors and the addition of the smiley face hidden in the logo are both good examples of how they selected these elements to appeal to their audience.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

Crayola’s target market is children and the parents of these children. We know this is the target market because of the way they have branded their company and marketed their products. I think that Crayola has made good decisions to reach their target market through their choices of colors in their logo, their marketing and their product design. Everything about their company is very eye-catching and appealing to kids, and in making it appealing to them, their parents are therefore attracted to the product as well.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I do think that Crayola’s strategy is working, they are known by every kid, school, teacher and parent. Their logo and marketing is inviting and engaging for these kids. I think that if they continue the strategies they are currently taking they will continue to be well known among their target market.

Price: “15 minutes could save you 15% or more”. GEICO has always advertised themselves as being an affordable insurance option and that remains the same through this commercial

Product: Although GEICO insurance is more of a service than a product, they were able to promote it through this commercial all the same. In using an office as the main location they were able to catch the eyes of the middleclass and get their attention on their service.

Promotion: GEICO’s promotion has always been the same, 15 minutes could save you big. That’s no different for their Hump Day commercial. In promoting their service through an eye-catching animal, such as an obnoxious camel, they are gaining the attention of many people.

Place: In choosing to air their commercial on television initially, they reached a large number of people. In using an office as the main location in the commercial they were able to catch the eyes of a large scale of people as that is a common workplace of many middleclass people today.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

The target market of GEICO insurance is middle-class and middle aged families. We know this is the target market based on their promotion and price. They are promoting their service through a commercial airing on television and it takes place in an office building which is generally a location of middle class income families. They also advertise their service as being a cheap and affordable option for families.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I think that GEICO’s strategies and commercials do work. Insurance is typically not a subject that people enjoy discussing and get excited about. However, with GEICO in incorporating humor into their commercials, they catch the eyes of almost everyone and bring laughter to a subject that tends to be more gloomy. In this day and age people just want to feel joy and in GEICO showcasing they can have a sense of humor and bring their customers joy and good insurance, they are doing a great job at appealing to their target market.

Although a very simplistic logo, it is known worldwide. Sharpie selected the brand elements in regards to the simple black and cursive writing to showcase exactly what their product does. Sharpie combined their brand name along with an advertisement for their company into one logo. Their name has become so well-known that any black marker, people will automatically associate with their brand.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target

Seeing as a simple black market is targeted towards no one group of people or age group, Sharpie had to find a way to brand their product in a more specific way. They recently have begun to release many different aspects to their product with a wide range of colors, types and sizes. Their target market has now become more those of a Gen Z to Millennial generation, appealing to students, artists and people who enjoy organization. I do believe that the company made good decisions to reach the target market because they have done a good job advertising and appealing to this age group through their logo and marketing campaigns.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I do believe that it does work because of how well known their brand name is. Across schools and offices all over the world, Sharpie is the top brand for all aspects of school and office supplies. The sharpie name is well known and well trusted. People know what they are getting and enjoy the simpleness of the brand they know but also that the brand is expanding and there is other trusteed products they can purchase.

Vans are a popular “skater” brand that produces shoes and clothing. Their logo utilizes a simple text and a vibrant red that contrasts the white and black incorporated in it as well. Their logo stands up against competitors because it is simple and different compared to a competitor such as converse that has a more detailed and less simple logo. Their slogan “off the wall” is also well recognized and automatically associated with their brand.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

Vans target market is younger Millenials and the Gen Z generations. Teenagers all over the world wear vans and they are one of the most popular and well known shoe companies in the world for this generations. We know this is the target market because they are targeting the generations that have an interest in skateboarding and a “skater” type style. They market themselves toward this age group through their advertisements and marketing strategies.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I do believe that Vans logo and marketing strategies do work to target their desired market. Their logo stands out with the vibrant red and slogan but with the simplicity in the letters. Although the “skater” crowd is who they target specifically, teenagers and young adults of all interests wear vans, which goes to show that they are successfully targeting and marketing to a wide range of people.

Apple is one of the top brands in the world, their logo is recognizable everywhere and by everyone. They chose a simple, cutting edge apple as their logo to show that their brand is high end and new. Apple’s logo compares to other companies and brand logo’s because they have a symbol that is recognizable. Compared to HP or Dell, Apple is different because it does not have its name in its logo. Apple doesn’t need the word “apple” for people to recognize the brand. They chose the brand elements that they did to stand out against competitors and to be a well known name.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

Apple has a very large target market, however they have the reputation of being slightly more expensive than other competitors. Their target market is thus more people with a medium to higher class income. We know this is the target market because of their simplistic, cutting edge logo and the branding they do for their company. Their advertisements are always modern and clean to showcase the cutting-edge of their brand.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I think that Apple’s marketing strategy for their logo and their brand is very smart and works very well for them. Being one of the most recognizable brands in the world and having a logo that everyone automatically associates with the Apple company. The crystal cut and simplicity of their logo is what makes it so recognizable, and showcases their brand.

Describe in detail how the business implemented the four P’s to add value and/or promote the product or service.

Price: Although price was not a focus of the commercial one can conclude from the advertisement that you will be paying for the quality. There is a large emphasis on travel throughout and these people tend to be willing to pay a little more for good quality which is what Hydroflask is promoting.

Promotion: It is very clear from this commercial that Hydroflask products are made for adventures and people who aren’t afraid to get outside and explore and travel new places. Their commercial promotes this lifestyle through the activities showcased throughout and the lifestyles of the characters within it.

Product: Hydroflask products are well known for being a little bit more pricey but extremely high quality. This is no different in their commercial. A wide range of their products are showcased throughout from water bottles, to mugs to coolers. Hydroflask has branded their wide range or products to the curious and explorers of today.

Place: Like previously explained Hydroflasks are built to be outside and taken when traveling. This is showcased in the commercial through the constant location changes and the activeness of the actors. The place in this commercial is wherever your feet take you and where you choose to explore.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

The target market that is being targeted through this commercial are young adults who love to travel and explore. We know this is the target market based on the people that were showcased throughout the commercial. I do believe that the company made good decisions to reach the target market as it is a quick-moving commercial that will keep that generations attention. Millenials and Gen Z are also a generation very fond of exploring and making memories with their loved ones, which is exactly what Hydroflask displayed through this commercial.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I do believe that it does work as it gets and keeps the attention as it is fast-moving and interesting to watch. It catches the eyes of Millenials and Gen Z because of all the location changes and the beautiful scenery showcased throughout the commercial. Today’s generation is going to change the world and we have the world at our feet to explore. Hydroflask did a great job portraying this and targeting their market.

Describe in detail how the business implemented the four P’s to add value and/or promote the product or service.

Price: Although not the focus of this advertisement, viewers can conclude from the style and look of the actors that coke is an affordable drink for everyone. The people featured are dressed in everyday clothes and is made clear from the activities showcased that they lead simple enjoyable lives.

Promotion: The promotion was key in this advertisement, Coke created a brand label that engaged with their customers on a deep and personal level. In having names placed on the outer label of their bottles, people were drawn in to buy a coke even if they didn’t normally drink it, just so they could have that personalized touch.

Product: Coke products are known all over the world and are one of the most recognizable brand names out there. However their promotion of placing names on their outer brand labels was genius for their products. This advertisement showcased the product and people getting excited to retrieve the proper bottle with their name on it.

Place: In having the advertisement take place in a convenience store/gas station this implies that these coke bottles can be found anywhere. From your smallest convenience store to a large scale grocery store, you’ll never be in a place that doesn’t carry Coke products.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

This commercial was aired first in spring/early summer. In the advertisement the actors were young teenagers to middle aged adults, although Coke products are meant for everyone, this commercial was specifically targeting the age group of its actors. This is made obvious because of the activities they are doing throughout the commercial and the love story that is clearly arising from that of the customer and the cashier. I believe that the company did make good decisions to reach the target market as this commercial draws the attention of this age group because of the content within it and the excitment this target market gets from the prospect of summer and its activities.

Although it is simply a Coke bottle, the #shareaCoke campaign makes people all across the world feel special and excited to go to the closest store and find a coke with their name on it, as well as one with their friends on it.

Describe in detail how the business implemented the four P’s to add value and/or promote the product or service.

Price: The price of their product was not directly advertised in their commercial, however, Budweiser was appealing and targeting regular class Americans implying an affordable price to their product.

Product: Budweiser tends to be a well-known, popular beer here in America. Which is why they chose to advertise their product by showing their patriotism and what the American people are about. Although Budweiser can be seen as ordinary they are marketing to stand out and be different just like the American people.

Promotion: Budweiser chose to promote their product through the use of typical Americans and their everyday life. Budweiser wants to show us that Americans aren’t the worst and how everyone is unique and special, just like their beer.

Place: The SuperBowl tends to be an insanely broadcasted and watched event, meaning it reaches a wide range of audiences and this commercial appeals to both Americans and Non-Americans which is why Budweisers placement of where they chose to air this ad was very smart.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

The target market is the typical middle-class American. We know this is the target market because all the individuals showcased and discussed in the commercial are just typical people living their typical everyday lives. I believe that the company did make good decisions to reach the target market as the majority of “typical” Americans watch the SuperBowl and may feel at times that they are not special and the world seems against them. Budweiser was able to draw eyes and keep attention through showcasing people just like the viewers and how what they’re doing truly is making a difference.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I believe that it does work because everyone wants to feel seen and noticed in a world where one can easily become lost. Budweiser directly targets the majority of the population with one commercial that makes it eye-catching right from the get-go. People want to feel special and accomplished and Budweiser is marketing through their beer we can.

Describe in detail how the business implemented the four P’s to add value and/or promote the product or service.

Price: Although Kia does not directly market and advertise their price in their commercial, they do utilize a young boy striving to be someone in a world where he had nothing. Although indirectly marketed, I believe that Kia is targeting families with kids in sports making it a more affordable, family-based vehicle.

Product: Kia marketed their product through the use of a famous football player which was a smart move as they chose the SuperBowl as their first place to air their media and I believe that it was a very good way and good decision to market their product.

Promotion: “Kia Seltos, Give it Everything” was how they promoted their product. In using Josh Jacobs, who struggled with being homeless as a kid, he is telling his younger self to give it everything he’s got because he is going to become someone.

Place: They promoted this product through the SuperBowl which was very smart because many young kids who dream of being in the NFL one day would be watching the games and it would get them and their families attention.

Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

I believe the target market is middle aged families with children in sports. We can tell this is the target market through the clues given through their commercial. Josh Jacobs is driving the vehicle while he talks to his younger self telling him to give everything hes got because he will get somewhere in life. Through this we are able to conclude that Kia is marketing towards go getters and people always striving to do better. Families with kids in sports always have lots of equipment and need lots of space and its visible that Seltos offer this luxury for families. I think that the company did make good decisions to reach the target market because families all across the country sit down together to watch the SuperBowl and will be interested in seeing Josh Jacobs on the screen.

Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I believe that it does work, everyone likes a touching story and something that is going to tug at your heartstrings. Josh Jacobs is well known and had a difficult childhood and through the commercial you see how he ended up and how he wishes he could encourage his younger self that even when times get tough to not give up and continue to give life everything you got. This commercial initially grabs viewers attention, then keeps them hooked and then promotes the product to the appropriate target market. I believe it is very effective and they chose a very very smart place to promote it first.
